MPS Winter Challenge

This card is my entry for the MPS Winter Challenge. I used Create a Critter for the tree, and (ironically enough) DCWV "Summer Dream" paper for the background.

The Truth about George

I know, this is probably old news, and I'm the last one to hear it, but I thought I'd pass it along all the same. You remember the George and Basic Shapes cartridge that came with most Cricuts?

It's a fake! The cartridge itself is empty- it just acts as an activator to tell the machine to access the George info that is pre-loaded on the machine.

Shame on you, ProvoCraft! Why would you make us think we need the cartridge, when George is pre-loaded? I found a pretty good You Tube tutorial that guides you through the process of making your own "activator" so you can access George on your machine without the fake cartridge. I tried my hand at making one, and lo and behold, it works! It is a little touchy- I think I need to make a 2.0 version with a slightly more precise placement of the foil, but it sure beats going out and buying Georege (my machine was given to me without the cart) to access content that is all ready there! I also printed a copy of the George overlay so I'm not cutting blind (this site offers a written guide to making the George cart for those who don't like video).

I love my Cricut, and I respect that ProvoCraft is in business to make a profit, but I am miffed that PC would be this greedy! Check out the tutorial, and make your own George today!

My homemade George in the Cricut. I have all ready used it to cut.

First Day of School Layout

I created this layout using my new Simply Charmed cricut cartridge.
This is my absolute FAVORITE cartridge EVER!
I also added embroidery stitching... another fave.
It's difficult to see, but the date is stamped in the top right corner.

A Couple of Cards

These are a couple of cards I made recently using Cricut cartridges. The Hello Kitty card was a thank you to a student who gave me a very cute Hello Kitty gift. The deer was a birthday card for my husband's grandma- he even helped me by typing up the sentiment inside! I used Hello Kitty Greetings for the first card, with a little American Crafts Metropolitan paper for the bow accent. The second card used Create a Critter with American Crafts Everyday paper as the background. Both were really simple, but I think both turned out nicely.

Paper Dolls

I have been MIA for awhile...
I've been busy working around the house and glad to
say that I am finally becoming much more organized! :)

I have introduced scrapbooking to another friend...
who may actually be more addicted than I am.
She and I have been doing quite a bit of scrapping these past few days.
I will post those things later.
Here are some puppets I made for the kiddos in my class last spring...
using the paper doll cartridges. They loved them... including the boys!!
I taped a popsicle stick to the back of each one and laminated
them b/c some of the kids can be a bit destructive at times.

(okay... so I still don't know how to add the cool signature lines... maybe some day I will figure it out!)

Lobster Card- MPS Challenge

I made this card for my dear department chair- she is such a great person who really goes above and beyond, and this is a crazy time of year for her. I got the idea from Organized Chaos- check out Lori's blog! She's got some great projects. I tweaked it a little- I used Cosmo Cricket paper from the Early Bird line, (you KNOW you're special when I use Cosmo on you!) which changed the color scheme, and I was too lazy to hunt an oval SVG, so my title is rectangular. My execution isn't as neat either :-( However, I really love the little lobster I added on the inside- I think he is too cute! Lobster and pot are on the "From My Kitchen" Cricut cart, which has fabulous retro-y designs.

When I saw the MPS challenge featuring critters, I figured, "Why not? Lobsters are critters too!"

The Pink ATG Has Arrived!

It's been a long time in coming, but it's finally here! I pre-ordered this from Custom Crops back in April for $26.99. Usually, my cheapness keeps me from having cool things, but this time, it worked in my favor. I had been dragging my feet on getting an ATG due to cost, but waiting actually netted me an awesome pink one at a great price! Of course, these are coming out everywhere now- I saw one at my local Michael's for $34.99 last week, but I still feel pretty great about it!

The pink is a really hot, 80's pink, not the lighter pink of most breast cancer awareness products. I love the color, and I'm happy to be able to support the cause in some small way.

New Scraproom

My big project this summer has been redoing the underutilized, over-stuffed third bedroom in my house into a scraproom. I cleaned it out (no small task!),repainted it, and I am planning on putting in a little counter top and some cabinets for storage. I have a picture in my mind of how I want it to be... if I get it to look that way, it'll be fab! Here are a few pics from last week- by now I've all ready got the table and the rest of my scrap stuff in.

The cute fabric I bought to use as a curtain under the counter.

The nosy Scrapcats checking out my stuff.

Never one to be outdone by a cat, Scrappoodle also has to check things out- and take time to greet his best buddy- The Poodle In The Mirror.

First Layout Completed In New Scraproom!

SO exciting (^_^) The colors aren't exactly the ones I normally gravitate to, but they seemed to go well with the pics, and I thought the kind of retro print paper was cute.I think the whimsical font is the best part of this otherwise simple layout. The paper is...get ready for it... DCWV from "The Stack 6".

I swear I do have other papers!

It's back to school time for me, so I'll try to keep up with my posts. I hope I don't loose my momentum with the scraproom project, too.

PK Layout Challenge Submission

Well, here is my latest effort for PK. I didn't get to use PK stamps :-(, but I got to use my Hello Kitty Greetings Cricut cart, which I love! I also used more DCWV paper from "The Stack 6", which contains paper for pretty much every occasion. I bought it for 50% off at Joann, and it has been a great investment!

Now, if I could at least win the random draw to get Peachy Keen stamps of my own so I can stop borrowing Shell's ;-)
